Cycling brand Shimano expands its footwear range
17/07/2015
After introducing the R321 limited-edition shoes in its Competition category earlier this summer, Shimano has added to its Road range with four new Performance pairs, the RP9, RP5, RP3 and RP2, designed to bridge the gap between racing cyclists and sportive riders, the brand has said.
For the triathlon market the TR9 elite racing shoe comes in Shimano blue with podium-stepping performance in mind. Its carbon fibre sole, comfortable inner and efficient straps are all designed to optimise power transfer and shave time off transitions.
For the extreme off-road consumer new Gravity (AM9, 7 and 5) and Winter (MW7) footwear has been developed. The AM series caters for downhill, enduro and trail riding, introducing features such as Vibram soles, high-traction tread patterns and optimised shank plates for high levels of rigidity and bike control. Meanwhile the MW7 trail shoe brings insulated and heat-retaining liners, speed-lacing pull-cord and extra grip for winter conditions.
In the Tour category two new Cross Mountain (XM9 and XM7) shoes are on offer for serious explorers looking to push the limits of their cycling endurance.
Seven new models feature in the woman-specific category, taking the total number of women’s shoes produced by the company to 16. A new WR84 competition road shoe caters for road racing performance whilst the WM64 and WM53 provide ergonomically efficient footwear for cross-country and general off-road riding. In addition new RP5W, RP3W, RP2W and TR9W models introduce the same technology as their new male counterparts.
