Senior representatives of both companies, Deshbandhu managing director, Golam Rahman, and Chemtex China chief executive, Sean Ma, signed the agreement at a formal meeting in Dhaka on September 12. Bangladesh’s minister for industry, Amir Hossain Amu, took part.
Reports in local media have said the new factory will create 2,000 new jobs and will produce more than 100,000 tonnes of polyester staple fibre per year. This volume would represent around 40% of Bangladesh’s total polyester staple fibre consumption.
