Indoor climbing “proliferation” tempts Mammut to open first US retail store

The multi-use facility will have climbing walls, a large bouldering field, fitness and yoga rooms and will also include highly respected food establishments.
“With the proliferation of climbing gyms and more urban communities embracing outdoor recreation, Mammut’s partnership with MetroRock signifies the importance of these growing market segments,” saod Bill Supple, chief executive of Mammut North America. “As we grow in North America, Mammut will continue to engage the gym-climbing population and serve all types of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.”
“Absolute Alpine” will remain Mammut’s core principle, it said, but it added that 34% of outdoor consumers now live in cities and that indoor climbing facilities are a growth market.
