Graphene-enhanced Colmar ski suits help French skiers win medals
French skiers won the gold, silver and bronze medals in the men’s Giant Slalom and silver in the women’s Giant Slalom events at the final FIS World Cup meeting of the season at St Moritz in Switzerland on 20 March 2016. The French skiers were all wearing ski suits from Italian high-end sports brand Colmar enhanced with graphene.

Colmar announced at ISPO 2016 in January that it had begun working with Italian technology provider Directa Plus to add its Graphene Plus product to garments. Colmar has said the addition of Graphene Plus has helped it offer athletes clothing that is both bacteriostatic and electrostatic, thereby reducing friction and enhancing sporting performance. In addition, the thermally conductive properties of the suits mean they are able to act as a filter between the body and the external environment, ensuring that the wearer always remains at a comfortable temperature, which also aids performance.

In the men’s competition, Thomas Fanara took gold, Alexis Pinturault silver and Mathieu Faivre bronze. In the women’s competition, Taina Bairoz won a silver medal.

Colmar has said the graphene-enhanced ski jackets will be on the market by 2017. The range also includes technical underwear and a polo shirt.
