Outdoor clothing and equipment retail network REI has said it will fund and coordinate the construction of a new disaster relief centre in Namche Bazaar in Nepal. Following the April 2015 earthquake in the region, REI members raised more than $900,000 to support the relief effort; it is this money that will fund the new centre.
Once complete, the relief centre will be stocked with essential supplies that can be accessed by the community in the event of another natural disaster.
