Dyeable polypropylene filament can add aesthetic appeal, CoolVisions says

Dyeable polypropylene staple fibre producer CoolVisions has introduced a new dyeable polypropylene filament. The company said on announcing the development that the filament can add “comfort and cutting-edge design” elements to polypropylene’s functional attributes, namely its thermal regulation and moisture management properties.

It added that its dyeable polypropylene filament can provide functional fabrics with “an aesthetic upgrade” because it can help fabric manufacturers develop products that have a cool, silky hand, ease of dyeing and compatibility with other fibres.

Produced in Thailand by parent company Indorama Ventures, the filament debuted earlier this year in a collection of weft knit fabrics by Taiwan’s Da Fon International.
The fabrics were blends of polypropylene and polyester, engineered to have the quick-drying, breathable polypropylene filament against the skin. Da Fon’s CoolVisions fabrics are currently appearing in Santo’s Win-Fit 2016 performance line.

“There is a demand for more sophisticated functional fibres with appealing aesthetics, ease of handling, and a sustainable profile,” said Susan Lynn, global sales and marketing manager for CoolVisions, at the time of the announcement.
