Mountain running jacket achieves OutDoor Award success

21/07/2016
Outdoor brand OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) and air permeable and waterproof membrane technology provider eVent fabrics have issued a joint statement celebrating the success of OMM’s Ava jacket at the 2016 OutDoor Awards.

OMM describes the product as a lightweight, full-featured mountain running jacket, made using  eVent’s new DVSTORM three-layer fabric and with “innovative closures” around the wrist, waist and face. The brand says it has achieved a weight of 200 grammes without sacrificing performance, with every component, including YKK Aquaguard zips and the brand’s proprietary PointZero pocket-lining fabric, making a contribution.

Its contention is that the jacket is ideally suited to participants in the event that gave the brand its name. The Original Mountain Marathon race was first held in 1968 as a test of endurance, navigation and mountain skills in wild environments. Unsupported two-person teams run, carrying a tent, sleeping bag and everything they need to survive in a mountain environment over “two days of adventure”, visiting a series of wilderness checkpoints along the way.

So far in 2016, an OMM race has taken place in Iceland in May, with two further events scheduled for Scotland in October and Japan in November. In the summer of 2017, there will be an OMM event in the Alps.
