Jump in Brazil’s cotton exports

Imports of cotton into Brazil rose 177% in June compared to the previous month. The total volume of cotton imports was 655,000 tonnes, up from 236,000 tonnes in May. It was more than 300% higher than the 158,000 tonnes of cotton imported in June 2015.

The date from Brazil’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) showed that the country’s cotton exports dropped 1.8% in June, the sixth consecutive months of decline. Nevertheless, global sales were 42.9% higher in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2015.
