Luxury goods brand Chanel has invested in four silk manufacturers in the Loire region of France to secure high-end supplies of the material.

Chanel said that the four companies (Moulinages de Riotard, Textiles Henri Lacroix, Denis & Fils and Hugotag Ennoblissement) were long-standing suppliers involved in all the steps of silk production, including printing.

"Through these investments, Chanel is reaffirming its commitment to the long-term sustainability of a high-quality segment and to ensuring the longevity of the silk weaving industry in France," said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel’s fashion division.

He added that the company will invest significantly in the four companies to boost their production capacity and modernise their manufacturing tools.
