Converse includes backpack in waterproof capsule collection

US shoe brand Converse is to release a capsule collection featuring water resistant items, including footwear, apparel and a backpack. The Converse Counter Climate Rubber Footwear and Apparel Collection will be available for Autumn/Winter 2016.

For the footwear in the collection, Converse is adding materials designed to combat the elements to its classic Chuck Taylor and Jack Purcell designs. It will feature a transparent rubber overlay and water resistant matte rubber upper. It also includes children’s shoes with a sticky upper to repel rain and an inner neoprene bootie for comfort.

Away from its traditional staple of footwear, Converse have designed two ponchos with storm guards behind the zipper and eyelets to allow moisture to escape. Branching into a new market, the collection also features a backpack, targeting the back-to-school market.
