Shift in date and focus for Eurobike in 2018

The organisers of the Eurobike trade fair have announced some significant changes to the event for the 2018 edition, including a move to earlier in the year.

Messe Friedrichshafen says Eurobike 2018 will get underway on July 8. This is considerably earlier than this year’s edition, which opened on August 31. Whether it runs for three or four days will be decided nearer to the time after consultation with exhibitors. The Eurobike exhibition will also focus solely on industry visitors from 2018 onward.

Klaus Wellmann, CEO of Messe Friedrichshafen, said these changes are being made in reaction to the “dynamism” of the bike market and the “numerous changes to the value chain”. He added that the earlier date would allow Eurobike to be “even more relevant” and retain its place as a leading trade show for new trends and innovations.

"Numerous conversations with manufacturers, including both exhibitors and non-exhibitors, retailers and the media have made it increasingly clear that further defragmentation of the industry into separate in-house exhibitions and order shows is neither long-term, nor sustainable,” said Stefan Reisinger, head of Eurobike.

Eurobike 2017 will remain a four-day event, getting underway on August 30. The business-to-business exhibition will run for three days before the event concludes on September 2 with a Festival Day, at which Messe Friedrichshafen says the most popular topics from the event will be presented to all cycling enthusiasts.
