‘Smart shirt’ secures funding from Canadian Space Agency

25/10/2016
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is to provide $2.4 million in funding to Montreal-based Carré Technologies so that it can continue its work on a bio-monitoring system for use aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The contract will allow Carré Technologies to further develop the technology behind its Hexoskin “smart shirt” and health monitoring software, which is capable of collecting scientific data on the vital signs, sleep quality and activity levels of astronauts during space missions. It can monitor blood pressure, skin temperature, movement, blood oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing.

CSA astronaut David Saint-Jacques the technology during his six-month missing to the ISS in 2018/2019.
