The jersey was developed over a two-year testing process, which included feedback from members of the All Blacks squad. It will be used during the team’s match against Ireland in Chicago, US on November 5.
The fabric in the jersey has been digitally woven together to reinforce it and reduce the likelihood of ripping. This also helps the garment to retain its shape when face with the physical demands of rugby. Adidas says the fabric offers four-way stretch for increased comfort.
Adidas has also developed a system which sits underneath the jersey shorts to support movement of players and strengthen their posture. The company believes its ‘chassis system’ will help improve core stability and movement efficiency.
Feedback from New Zealand players was crucial to adidas altering the pattern of the jersey to improve the fit. This prevents opposition players from grabbing it, as well as increasing breathability.
