One of the most iconic footballers of the 1980s and 1990s, Emilio Butragueño, recently donated a pair of boots to Spain’s national footwear museum in Elda.

A prolific Real Madrid striker between 1984 and 1995, Emilio Butragueño now works as the club’s director of public relations.

A prominent sports photographer, Vicente Muñoz, used his influence to persuade the footballer to donate a pair of boots to the museum in Elda, Mr Muñoz’s home town. Emilio Butragueño was happy to oblige and presented the boots, a pair made by Spanish sports brand Joma, to the photographer during a meeting at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu stadium in November.
