Jordan brand celebrates 20 years in China

11/01/2017
The Nike-owned Jordan brand, named after American basketball legend Michael Jordan, is to open its largest store in Asia to mark the 20th anniversary of entering the Chinese market.

The Jordan 1 Hongxing store Chengdu will be the biggest store in Asia that exclusively sells Jordan brand products. It will offer an on-site Flight Lab service, where customers can personalise their products, as well as having a basketball court for footwear testing.

As a celebration of its history in China, Jordan is also launching a limited-edition version of the first product it sold in the country, the Air Jordan XII. The Aid Jordan XII Retro CNY features an upper made from an innovative reflective fabric and a leather woven bamboo pattern. The Chinese characters for “Twenty” are printed on the tongue in honour of the anniversary.

It forms part of the Chinese New Year Pack, alongside the Air Jordan XXXI CNY and the Air Jordan XII Retro CNY GG. There will also be a range of apparel. All of the products will be available in China, as well as online and in selected global retail stores.
