Swedish ski and cycling helmet brand POC has introduced new technology to its 2017-2018 collection in the form of Spin, which it describes as a new concept for countering the effects of oblique impacts.

It has introduced a new baselayer ski protection system as part of the collection with components that include Maxilla, an adjustable slalom chin-guard, and Spine VPD, a new competition-level back protector. One element of the system that includes Spin is a new children’s helmet, called POCito (the helmets also have integrated lights).

Spin’s name comes from ‘Shearing Pad Inside’. Pads provide rotational impact protection based on the precise location inside the helmet. In the event of a fall, the helmet can move relative to the head. Spin will also feature in a number of adult’s helmets in the 2017-2018 collection.
