Sport will be part of new European industrial modernisation platform

Sport will be one of the thematic areas to feature in Europe’s new Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P- Industrial Modernisation), a platform that will provide customised EU support to generate concrete investment projects.

European regions that have already identified sport as a priority include Lapland and Kaniuu in Finland, Brabant in the Netherlands and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in France. Representatives of these and other areas met in Brussels with the European Platform for Sports Innovation (EPSI) at the end of January.

EPSI co-executive director, Alberto Bichi, said after the meeting that the organisation is working to build a bridge to the EU to secure back-up for investment proposals.
