Welspun targets technical textiles with new facility

Textile company Welspun India, which specialises in the production of home textiles, has established a state-of-the-art advanced textile plant in the state of Gujarat to boost its technical textile business. 

“We are entering into an exciting phase of business through these new offerings in technical textiles,” explained BK Goenka, chairman of the Welspun Group. “The new facility will enhance our product offerings and provide cutting-edge solutions in high-growth areas such as industrial and defence applications.”

He added that it would strengthen Welspun’s position as a global manufacturer and underline its commitment to the Make in India initiative, as well as to the economic development of the region and the country. 

The facility will have spunlace and needle punch lines that can be used to manufacturer multilayer composites for various applications. The company has also invested in a wide range of finishing technologies, including coating, laminating, dyeing and printing, and an automated cutting and sewing unit.
