Drones will enable ‘further, faster’ delivery, according to Montane April Fool

03/04/2017
UK-based outdoor brand Montane tricked its followers on Twitter on the traditional date for practical jokes, April 1, by claiming it had completed testing of a drone-driven delivery system.

It used a video presentation to show a walker use her smart phone to order a new rucksack from the Montane website while out walking in a remote moorland location. After a brief wait, a drone using global positioning system technology locates her and delivers the product.

In the video, Montane claimed that UK testing of the system, which it called Further Faster Delivery, was complete and that it would be rolling it out Europe-wide before the end of 2018. Most viewers, on glancing at the date, realised relatively quickly that it was just a piece of fun.
