New PLM system focuses on flat knitting

Flat knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki is to release a new product lifecycle management (PLM) software application that it has specifically engineered for the flat knitting industry.

“Today’s apparel industry is evolving at a rapid pace,” the Finnish company said on making the announcement, “[and needs] new
production infrastructure that supports quick response, mass customisation and smart factories that are Industry 4.0-compliant. This is the key to future success.”

Shima Seiki said this is the world’s first PLM system dedicated to flat knitting.
