AMSilk cements its partnership with yarn manufacturer

It was Gruschwitz that helped AMSilk develop the manufacturing process needed to produce its Biosteel yarns.
At the time of the announcement, Gruschwitz chief executive, Ditmar Schultschik, described AMSilk as “a young, dynamic company with a great product”.
AMSilk calls Biosteel “the first high-performance bionic fibre with true environmental integrity”. It has said that the product is 30% lighter in weight than common fibres, anti-allergenic, highly breathable and moisture wicking. It is already being used in apparel applications and in November 2016, adidas announced it would use the fibre in sports footwear.
Under the new partnership, the two companies will work together to improve the yarn structure and concentrate on fibre finishing. Biosteel yarns could, for example, be refined by coatings and PFC-free finishings.
