Cut-price but official Liverpool shirts go on sale in China

Liverpool FC has produced a new, cheaper version of its shirts for sale specifically in the Chinese market. The club said that counterfeit shirts are so commonplace there that it’s difficult to convince consumers to pay for an official product at full price.

The official Liverpool shirt, produced by New Balance, should cost around $90 in China. The club has produced an alternative shirt, without New Balance, that will sell for $30. According to the Financial Times, the alternative shirt looks similar but is made from cheaper materials. It does carry the club badge and the logo of its main sponsor, Standard Chartered bank.
