Technical textiles punch above their weight

New figures from industry body Euratex show that in 2016 the textile and clothing industry in the European Union had a turnover of more than €170 billion.

There are almost 180,000 companies involved in the sector across the EU and they employ a combined total of 1.7 million workers.

Euratex went on to say that while technical textile companies account for only 8% of manufacturers, they contribute 15% of employment and 23% of turnover.
