Loughborough students given chance to shine by Cotton USA

22/06/2017
Cotton USA, a promotions body for US cotton, has announced the completion of an innovation competition it has run for the first time this year in partnership with the textiles innovation and design school at Loughborough University in the UK.

Central to the competition was the idea of giving students “a real-world industry brief and provide the opportunity to work with high-quality US cotton fabrics”. Second-year students specialising in textiles and fabrics were eligible to enter.

After six weeks of exemplary work,     Cotton USA announced that the winner of the competition is Lucy Dennis, and the three runners-up are Emily Brennan, Alice Charter and Sophie Tresadern.

Stephanie Thiers-Ratcliffe, international marketing manager for Cotton USA, commented at the time of the announcement: “The students and team at Loughborough University have been the perfect partners for our first innovation competition in the UK. The talent we’ve seen has been enormously impressive and more than lived up to the high standards the textiles department produces year after year. The level of talent and passion shown by students at the school has been a pleasure to witness throughout the initiative.”
