Argentina: 50,000 textile workers’ jobs at risk

03/07/2017
More than 50,000 textile and clothing workers in Argentina face redundancy as the sector suffers rapid declines in orders and production, according to industry association Federación de Industrias Textiles Argentinas (FITA).

Clothing factories face closure as an increasing amount of garments are imported, rather than made domestically, report local press.

Unemployment in the Greater Buenos Aires area, where a large part of the industry is based, has risen in the first four months of the year.
