Empa controls drone with conductive wristband
Swiss research institute Empa has designed a way to control drones and other electronic devices with a wrist movement thanks to fibres integrated into a textile.

The piezo-resistive fibre is electroconductive, recognises a change in shape and converts it into an electrical signal. It responds to small movements.

Researcher Frank Clemens said: “It takes a combination of different sensors to develop new concepts. Only then can we spot and use movements that weren’t detectable with previous technologies.”
