Dick’s grows sales by almost 10% in first half

Retail group Dick’s Sporting Goods has announced sales revenues of almost $4 billion for the first six months of 2017, growth of 9.8% compared to the same period last year. Net income was up by 4.3%, reaching $170.6 million.

The company said boosts to its e-commerce business, as well as in footwear and golf, had helped compensate for slower sales in athletic apparel.

Edward Stack, chief executive of the Pittsburgh-based company, described the marketplace as “very competitive and dynamic” but said Dick’s will “aggressively protect” its market share.
