Fossil fuel-free jacket comes onto the market
Swedish outdoor apparel brand Tierra has made a new jacket, the Deterra, available to the market. The jacket won attention at ISPO 2017 because it uses only bio-based materials and is fully free from fossil fuel-derived components.

The exterior fabric is made from Evo by Fulgar, a polyamide produced from castor oil, while the padding is made from wool from German sheep and Tencel yarn, derived from wood cellulose. The hood fastens with a simple knot instead of the usual plastic stopper.

Even the buttons demonstrate Tierra’s “passionate commitment to sustainability”; they are made from tagua nuts, seeds from the tagua palm that resemble ivory.
