Indian state targets development of textile sector

The government of the Indian state of Odisha intends to seek support from the World Bank to develop its textile, handloom and handicrafts industries.

Local media reports that a high-level meeting has already taken place between World Bank officials and representatives of the Odisha state government. 

The funding from the World Bank would support the implementation of a new project in the region, in which the local government is aiming to invest Rs 460 crore (around $72 million).
