Rieter’s archaeological challenge

06/10/2017
Specialist provider of machines and systems for short-staple fibre spinning Rieter will embark on a major construction project at its headquarters in Winterthur in Switzerland.

The textile machinery company wants to create a new centre for customer services, product and technology development, product assembly and administration. It hopes construction can begin in 2018 but faces possible delays because the project site, which covers approximately 30,000 square metres, is of archaeological interest.

Five architectural firms from Zurich will carry out preliminary studies and present project plans by March 2018. The company will then choose the winning project and work will get under way, but  only after archaeological surveys and, perhaps, excavations.
