Japan pledges support for Angolan cotton industry

11/12/2017
The Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) is to help Angola relaunch its cotton growing industry by sending technicians to the country to carry out experimental cultivation studies.

During the studies, which will take place in the Capanda Agricultural Hub in Angola’s Malanje province, there will be field trials with different varieties of cotton using a drop irrigation system.

International experts will then work to “assess the adaptability and yield of different varieties of seed cotton.”

JICA will also ensure that the country’s cotton farmers have the necessary irrigation equipment, seeds and fertilisers to successfully grow cotton.
