Nepalese climber joins stove project advisory board

Himalayan Stove Project works to help preserve the environment in the Himalayas and improve the health of local people by giving them cleaner stoves to cook with instead of traditional stoves or fire pits, which consume large amounts of fuel and can cause damage to health by polluting the air inside people’s homes.
Dawa Yangzum Sherpa began climbing in 2009 and since then has scaled Mount Everest on a number of different expeditions. She has worked as a climbing ranger on Mount Rainier in North America. She recently completed the mountain guide course run by the International Federation of Mountain Guides.
In 2014, she successfully summited K2 at the first attempt with the first all-female Nepalese team. She has also been a regular competitor in ultra-marathon races such as the 350-kilometre Everest Sky Race and the Annapurna Mandala Trail.
Himalayan Stove Project has said it will now work with Dawa Yangzum Sherpa to arrange a fund-raising expedition to climb Mount Rainier in August 2018.
