Swiss machinery manufacturers exhibit in Uzbekistan

The Swiss Textile Machinery Association (Swissmem) recently led a delegation of 14 of its member companies on a visit to Uzbekistan, where they showcased their technology and know-how.

The two-day event in the capital, Tashkent, was opened by the Swiss Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Olivier Chave, and Bakhodir Alikhanov, the first deputy chairman of the Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Association. 

It was also attended by delegates from the Uzbek textile and clothing sectors, as well as by a large group of students from the textiles department of Tashkent University. 

Speaking at the event, the president of Swissmem, Ernesto Maurer, said recent actions by the Uzbekistan government clearly signalled its intention to support the expansion of the production activities of the country’s textile manufacturers. 

The member companies of Swissmem taking part in the event were: Amsler Tex, Benninger, ITEMA, Jakob Müller, Loepfe Brothers, Luwa, Maag Brothers, Rieter, Rieter Components (Bräcker, Graf, SSM), Saurer, Stäubli Sargans and Steiger.
