New Zealander to take charge of adidas North America

He will replace Mark King, who has decided to step down from his post after a long and successful career at adidas. Since June 2015 Zion King has been helping to fulfil the role, working as general manager for North America. Mark King will continue to serve adidas North America as an advisor.
Zion Armstrong’s career with adidas spans many years and many countries. He first joined adidas in his native New Zealand as product manager for footwear in 1998 before moving to corporate headquarters in Germany in 2002. From 2005 to 2014, he held various leadership roles in Asia-Pacific including that of managing director for the company’s business in South Korea.
Mark King started his career at TaylorMade in the early 1980s as a sales representative. From 2003 to 2014, Mark King was chief executive of TaylorMade-adidas golf.
Adidas has described the development as “a well-prepared, seamless transition” and said it was excited to promote Zion Armstrong to “one of the most important roles in the company”.
