German testing and certification firm TÜV SÜD has announced it will expand the textile testing laboratory that it operates in Tiruppur, in India’s Tamil Nadu state.

It will now offer chemical testing services for all kinds of textile business, which TÜV SÜD has said turns it into a “one-stop facility” for the industry.

The new chemical testing laboratory will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, allowing testing for key parameters like pH levels as well as banned amines, phthalates, formaldehyde and heavy metals.

Niranjan Nadkarni, CEO of the South & South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa Region for TÜV SÜD, said: “Tiruppur is one of the biggest hubs for India's textile and knitwear industry. Our aim is to understand the pulse of the sector and respond to its business needs in real time. Keeping that in mind, we have strategically invested in building a facility close to the manufacturing hub and have augmented our range of testing services aligned with manufacturers' evolving business needs.”
