Sneaker-obsessed Swansea students secure start-up prize

Two students from Swansea University have turned their love of athletic footwear into a start-up business that has won recognition from the Welsh government.

Nutnicha Chansuksai and Vishvendra Mehta, who are originally from Thailand and India respectively, have launched Sneaker Finder, a business that sources and sells limited-edition trainers around the globe. They launched the company after finding that they shared a passion for exclusive trainers and had identified a gap in the market for a business that can uncover hard-to-find shoes.

They have already acquired and sold a pair of Nike’s limited-edition Back to the Future Air Mags, costing several thousand pounds. They have also set up a small shop-in-shop at a store in Swansea, NV-US, which specialises in clothing and accessories, but not footwear.

The venture was recently recognised in the Welsh Government’s Big Ideas business awards – a national event for young entrepreneurs to showcase their start-up ideas. Sneaker Finder picked up an award in the  Creativity and Innovation category.
