Indorama acquires PET plant in Egypt

Thai industrial group Indorama has announced the acquisition with an immediate effect of a polyester production facility in Egypt.

It has bought a factory in the Ain Sokhna free trade zone, 125 kilometres east of Cairo, previously owned by the Dhunseri petrochemical company. The plant has a production capacity of 540,000 tonnes of polyethylene terephthalate. Indorama will run it in partnership with Dhunseri.

Indorama chief executive, Aloke Lohia, said on making the announcement: “I am delighted to extend our strategic partnership with Dhunseri through this acquisition.”
