Twinery seeks out new textile innovations
30/07/2018
The Twinery Open Challenge is open to individual inventors, startups, established companies, academic teams and others who have product concepts from any industry that can be applied in the soft goods and fabric sector.
“The best innovations are born when different disciplines and industries share ideas to solve problems and create novel product,” the company has said, adding that it wants to connect with inventors and companies to bring their new textile innovations to life.
Twinery has already posted five ‘open challenges’ on a dedicated website. Innovators have been invited to browse the site regularly and submit ideas they have for potential solutions. They can be seed concepts, existing startups or developing concepts. The challenges are:
• Wetness indicator for underwear
• Eco-friendly quick-dry material
• Comfortable labels for lace underwear
• Low-grade cotton with the feel of platinum cotton
• Swimwear for menstruation
Twinery’s director of technology, Sithila Dassanayake, has said: "For innovators, this programme is a great way to turn knowledge and ideas into cash. It's also an excellent way for academics, engineers, inventors, research labs, and others with breakthrough ideas to join the community of innovators and get the resources they need to improve people's lives with smart soft goods products."
He added that Twinery and parent company MAS Holdings has the required lab facilities, relationships and expertise to bring new textile innovations to market.
