Textile and leather sector speciality chemicals group Stahl has announced a partnership with technology developer HP which will see the two companies work together to develop new durable, water-based digital printing solutions for synthetic materials. 

The collaboration will involve the use of HP’s water-based Latex Inks, which preserve the flexibility of the material, allowing designers to print on upholstery, bags, shoes or apparel. Stahl’s water-based EVO coating will be used to enhance the durability of the printed items. 

Sidnei Blos, Stahl’s global market manager for synthetics, said: “The Stahl EVO primer is the perfect preparation for digital printing. The 100% water-based Stahl EVO top coat is perfect to apply on printed synthetic substrates in order to create durable, smooth and wide colour gradients.”

Stahl and HP will present their collaboration at the forthcoming All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in Shanghai (August 29-31).
