Los Angeles to host new footwear summit

31/08/2018
The Footwear Innovation Summit, a new event focusing on emerging technologies in the shoe sector, will take place for the first time in Los Angeles on October 2. Around 250 industry leaders from footwear brands, design institutes and factories are expected to attend.

It is being organised by FMNII, a global platform that connects different parts of the footwear supply chain through innovation and knowledge sharing. It also operates a digital sourcing platform that helps designers find materials and equipment.

The company was founded in 2017 and has its headquarters in Dongguan, China. It also has branch offices in New York, Jinjiang, Ningbo and Wenzhou.

The first Footwear Innovation Summit will welcome a range of speakers. The keynote address will be delivered by Scott Labbe, Wolverine’s former head of product development.

Sarah Clevinger, senior business development manager at HP, will discuss the company’s Fitstation technology. Other speakers include Brendon Marczan, product manager at software provider Foundry; and Dr Geoffrey Alan Gray, founder of footwear testing lab Heeluxe.

The full programme can be found on the summit’s website
