H&M plays active part in World Water Week
31/08/2018
World Water Week 2018 took place from August 26-31 in the Swedish capital. It saw more than 3,300 individuals from a wide range of industries come together to discuss important challenges related to water. This included water risk assessment in the value chain and water stewardship partnerships in the textile sector.
H&M has described water as “one of the greatest challenges humanity faces”, adding that as part of an industry in which water plays a critical role it has a great responsibility to act. The group said solving this challenge is something that one single brand cannot do alone and called on brands, stakeholders, sectors and nations to join forces to tackle it.
It explained: “H&M group has been working on sustainable water management for many years, developing higher standards and stricter requirements. That has led to positive results in reducing water impacts along the value chain. However, it is by joining forces that we can go further. This is why we engage with other organisations, brands, suppliers, policy-makers and governments through several initiatives.”
