TWD announces hollow fibre breakthrough in bedding
18/09/2018
Hollow fibres made of polyester have a long history as an alternative to down and feather fillings for bedding, the company said. Hollow fibres as filament yarns, on the other hand, have barely made any impact on the bedding market until now.
A specialist textile manufacturer based in Baden-Wurtemberg, Mattes & Ammann, has now begun to use Diolen in this way.
“The special yarn cross-section of these hollow fibres has cavities in the individual filaments over the entire yarn length,” TWD has explained. “The air trapped in the yarn as a result of these cavities has a naturally insulating effect, much like the natural fur of polar bears.”
Its conclusion is that mattresses and bedding that contain Diolen hollow fibres will improve people’s comfort, stabilising body temperature throughout the night.
