Sportswear group Nike has reported revenue of $9.9 billion for the first quarter of its new financial year (ended August 31), an increase of 10% compared to the same period of last year.

Revenues for the Nike brand made up the majority of this figure. It achieved sales of $9.4 billion, up 10% year on year, driven by strong international sales and growth in almost every category, led by sportswear.

Sales for the Converse footwear brand were up 7% to $527 million, mainly driven by growth in Europe and Asia.

“Nike’s Consumer Direct Offense, combined with our deep line up of innovation, is driving strong momentum and balanced growth across our entire business,” said Mark Parker, Nike chief executive. “Our expanded digital capabilities are accelerating our complete portfolio and creating value across all dimensions as we connect with and serve consumers.”
