French company uses linen fibre in new riding helmet

Founded in 2013 by two partners Etienne-Marie de Boissieu and Benoit Denis, Egide makes its products in its workshops in Nantes. Its newest helmet, the Epona Lin, is the first it has made using natural linen fibre.
Mr de Boissieu said the company was attracted to the idea of using linen fibre because of its excellent environmental credentials and because it’s from plants grown in the local area: fields on the coasts of northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands supply 85% of the world’s supply of linen fibre.
“The fibre we use in our helmet is procesed in Normandy,” said the Egide co-founder. “Its resistance, shock-absorbing and lightweight properties make it unique.”
