FilSpec prepares for Performance Days debut

The company, which also has manufacturing facilities in the US and in Mexico, operates a wide array of spinning machines, allowing it to tailor high performance yarns to the specific needs of its clients. It also means it is flexible enough to supply small quantities. Its portfolio includes a number of performance yarns for active sportswear
“80% of a fabric’s performance comes from the yarn,” FilSpec president Eric Perlinger has said, emphasising that this makes yarn selection very important.
The company’s vice president of sales and marketing, Dominique Quintal, adds: “The advantage of engineering the properties into the yarn from the start is that once woven or knitted into a fabric, they will not wash away. Making various functions an integral part of the yarn is also a way to simplify fabric manufacturing as our yarns will require less blends and fewer chemical finishes.”
FilSpec will lead four workshops at the exhibition in Munich, each dedicated to a different topic. The areas covered will include self-heating yarn solutions, conductive and composite yarn technologies, and yarns with inherent anti-odour properties.
In addition, Mr Perlinger has said he hopes to “open the dialogue” with the designers, product managers and fabric buyers that attend Performance Days.
As part of its efforts to step up its presence in Europe, FilSpec recently opened a new sales office in Brussels, Belgium.
