Thai company taps into anti-microbial properties of peppermint oil

Among the companies exhibiting at the ongoing Performance Days exhibition (November 28-29) is Bangkok based anti-bacterial specialist Life Material Technologies.

The product it chose to highlight in Munich was an anti-bacterial finish derived from natural peppermint oil. It refers to this solution as Life Natural.

The company markets it as an alternative to current anti-microbial and odour control chemicals that employ silver compounds.

Speaking at the exhibition, representatives of the company told sportstextiles that the anti-microbial properties of peppermint oil have been known for some time. They explained that what Life Material Technologies has done is find a way to apply it to textiles, foams and plastics.

Products treated with Life Natural are expected to be on the market in early 2019. They will come from sports brand and underwear companies, with one global release and one US release scheduled.
