Madrid-based apparel footwear brand Ecoalf has won a silver award for its Shao sneaker in  an awards programme called the NOW Driven by Design awards.

Fabric made from recycled plastic bottles from the bottom of the Mediterranean constitutes the upper of the Shao shoe, while the sole is made from seaweed.

Ecoalf has recycled 70 million plastic bottles so far.
