Textile companies can be high-growth too

A new report by the World Bank Group, ‘High Growth Firms: Fact, Fiction and Policy Options for Emerging Economies’, has called the notion that high-growth companies are to be found only in high-tech industries “a common misconception”.

According to the report, Mexico is one country where there are high-growth firms not just in computers, electronics, electrical appliances, and communications, but also in textiles.

The report says the characteristics of high-growth firms include a commitment to innovation, to being part of “network economies”, to establishing and maintaining links with external markets and paying higher-than-average wages.
