It said the two organisations had established a joint research agreement, “aimed at exploring new ways of synthesising specialty chemicals”. It added that this joint research would focus on global challenges such as reducing CO2 emissions and making better use of the world’s resources.
Solvay pointed out on making the announcement that it is unusual for AIST to engage in long-term partnerships with overseas companies and said having its research teams work with AIST’s will boost its efforts to “transition to a circular economy”.
New ways to produce chemicals and materials with a lower environmental impact will come out of this, it said.
