Chinese wool spinner sets up European arm in Biella

Xinao’s facility in the small town of Verrone will serve as a development and production centre as well as fulfilling a commercial function for the company.
Alberto Gaia, who previously worked for Safil and for Südwolle, has been named as general manager of Xinao Textiles Europe. He said Xinao will aim to offer a fast and competitive service to the European fashion market.
“We have chosen Biella because it has always been an international wool yarn centre of the highest quality. We want to become part of this area, integrating with the local textile services industry to create a product with Italian taste and high added value.”
Xinao Textiles Inc. was founded in 1991. In 2017 it produced 10 million kilos of yarn, a 10% increase on the figure for 2016. It has its own farm in Australia to supply wool and also carries out its own combing, treatment, dyeing and spinning activities.
It is a Bluesign partner and holds certification from bodies such as OekoTex, the Woolmark and the Responsible Wool Standard.
